Second World War topic of latest Redditch History Society talk
THE LATEST talk in Redditch History Society’s annual programme takes place this Monday, May 11, and focuses on artists who created works during the Second World War.
Henrietta Lockhart – curator of Museum Collections at Winterbourne House and Garden and an art historian – will interpret many works of art and talk about how war artists built upon historical artistic precedents to put across a variety of messages through their work,
The subject of the presentation is the body of work produced during the Second World War, between 1939 and 1945 – both by official War Artists and those artists surrounded by and clearly shaped by their lived wartime experience.
The Redditch History Society meets from 2pm to 4pm on the second Monday of every month at Oasis Christian Centre on Plymouth Road.
Non-members are always welcome for a £4 admission fee and refreshments are available after the talk for just 50p per person.
Further details of the 2026 season can be found at: redditchhistorysociety.org.uk or on the leaflet available from Redditch Library and The Palace Theatre.
