PICTURE SPECIAL – Game Fair attracts thousands to Ragley Hall

THE UK’s biggest celebration of country life drew more than 125,000 visitors to Ragley Hall for three days of experiences, entertainment, competitions and plenty of shopping last week (July 24 to 26).

From thrilling main-arena spectacles to expert-led talks, working dog demonstrations, equestrian displays and hands-on rural crafts, The Game Fair offered something for everyone who is interested in the countryside.

The BASC Wild Food Kitchen featured wild food, game cookery and outdoor living whilst everything from woodcraft to heritage trades was highlighted at the Modern Ruralist Craft Yard.

Celebrity chefs including Marco Pierre White and countryside personalities including Channel 4’s Dick and Angel Strawbridge as well as Merlin Griffiths took to the stage to help showcase the importance of using seasonal produce and traditional ingredients.

Elsewhere, thought-provoking discussions and debates took place in the Carter Jonas Game Fair Theatre addressing key issues facing the countryside, from conservation and land management to rural enterprise and public access.

Managing director James Gower said: “The Game Fair has once again demonstrated the strength and appeal of the British countryside, bringing together exhibitors, competitors, families and enthusiasts for a fantastic weekend at Ragley Hall.”

The event is set to return for its 69th incarnation next year from  July 23 to 25. Its location is yet to be revealed.
