FOOTBALL – Redditch United beat Coventry United in penultimate pre-season outing

REDDITCH United ended a run of three pre-season games without a win with a 3-1 victory against Coventry United.

Goals from Tyler Bruck, a trialist and Alex Cameron saw Redditch return to winning ways under caretaker boss Jimmy Fry at the Valley Stadium.

Coventry play one level below the Reds after securing promotion to the Northern Premier League Midlands last season.

Redditch broke the deadlock on 25 minutes when Bruck drew a foul in the box and picked himself up to score the resulting penalty.

However, Coventry equalised five minutes after half time as Cameron Dunn drew the visitors level from Adam Barber’s through ball.

The Reds reclaimed the lead on 59 minutes when a trialist beat his man down the right and produced a cool finish.

And the home side sealed victory three minutes from time as Cameron curled a shot into the corner of the net.

Redditch conclude their pre-season schedule against Forest Green Rovers on Saturday, August 1 with kick-off at 3pm at the Valley Stadium.
