FOOTBALL – Redditch United announce shock departure of manager Mike Fowler
REDDITCH United have confirmed the shock departure of manager Mike Fowler just weeks before the start of the 2026/27 season.
Fowler guided Redditch to an impressive seventh-place finish in the Southern League Premier Central last season as the Reds missed out on a play-off place on goal difference.
And the Reds rewarded Fowler with a new contract last month owing to the work done in his first season at the helm.
However, with the new season just over two weeks away, Redditch and Fowler have mutually agreed to part ways.
The club statement reads: “Redditch United Football Club can confirm that it has mutually agreed to part company with first team manager Mike Fowler.
“Mike joined the club ahead of the 2025/2026 season and guided the team through a successful campaign in his first year at the Valley Stadium.
“Following discussions between both parties, it has been agreed that this is the right time for the club and Mike to move in different directions.
“We wish him every success in the next chapter of his career.”
Assistant manager Jimmy Fry will take charge of the club’s remaining pre-season fixtures.
Redditch are welcoming applications for the now vacant managerial post at the Valley Stadium.
