KYLE Storer admits the signing of Jamey Osborne is a ‘coup’ for Alvechurch after the midfielder made his debut in a derby win against Worcester City.

Osborne came off the bench in Church’s 3-1 win against Worcester at Lye Meadow in midweek.

The home side scored two injury-time goals to claim the derby spoils against 10-man Worcester as Church secured their first league victory of the season.

And Storer hopes Church can take the momentum from the victory into the club’s weekend fixture against Needham Market.

Storer said: “It’s always pleasing to get the first win and hopefully that snowballs into the weekend.

“It’s a massive win, it was tough. They were gritty, they were organised and structured.

“We took an early lead and then didn’t really bother them too much around their goal area.

“They looked more dangerous in the first half but the sending off changed the complex of the game.

“They were in control of the game without the ball but we got our just rewards in the end.

“I don’t think we bothered the goal enough, especially playing against 10-men but we deserved it on the whole.”

Church confirmed the signing of Solihull Moors legend Osborne before the Worcester game.

The 34-year-old midfielder previously played with Church boss Storer at Moors and captained Solihull at Wembley in the National League play-off final and FA Trophy final in 2024.

And Storer believes Osborne’s quality and experience will inspire the club’s younger players.

Storer added: “To acquire Jamey Osborne at this level is a massive coup for the club.

“He could have gone to a number of teams in the National League or Football League.

“Luckily, we’ve got a great relationship over the last six or seven years.

“He gave me his word in the end and I’m delighted to have him at the football club.

“He’ll massive for us on and off the pitch and it will definitely help all of the young players we’ve got.

“His ability is second to none, we’re very lucky to have him.”

Alvechurch are next in action against Needham Market on Saturday, August 15 with kick-off at 3pm at Lye Meadow.
