FOOTBALL – Alvechurch Foundation value social impact at £4.8million
THE charitable arm of Alvechurch Football Club – the Alvechurch Foundation – values its social impact on the village and surrounding areas at an estimated £4.8million.
Founded in 2022 by a group of football enthusiasts, the Foundation run a number of programmes which supports players from as young as five-years-old to over-65s.
And the Foundation has improved on last year’s total of £2.9million by just under £2million.
Alvechurch’s sporting director, Mark Fogarty said: “Our social impact report, alongside our recent National Community Club of the year awards, fills me with immense pride.
“It shows how the work of so many people across our club improves the lives of those within our community.
“Our junior team managers and coaches, schools coaches, community coaches and those carrying out many projects across our local area have impacted those not as fortunate as themselves and for that they deserve enormous credit.
“Well done to everyone involved and hopefully there is much more to come.”
The Foundation quantified its social value through a number of different metrics including volunteer hours (£1.6m), value of facilities accessible to the local area (£1.3m), player wellbeing value (460k) and hours of social interaction (£194k).
Some 450 volunteers and paid staff look after the club’s 271 adult players and 535 youth players.
And a total of 22,283 people participate in the Foundation’s various community programmes.
The Foundation calculates this generates £2.8million of total economic value for the local area.
This includes total wellbeing value (£1.6m), total health value (313k) and total social value (£25k).
The Foundation’s youth players generate £415k of social value through their participation alone.
This includes £94.4k savings from a reduction in youth obesity cases and £24.2k savings owing to a reduction in juvenile crimes and the number of young people not in education, employment or training.
