FOOTBALL – Alvechurch earn pre-season win at Northern Irish side Cliftonville

JACK Kelly scored an injury-time winner as Alvechurch battled to an impressive 2-1 pre-season victory against Northern Irish side Cliftonville.

Kelly headed in at the death following a succession of corners after Miracle Okafor put Church ahead at Solitude.

Church made the trip to Belfast to take on a Cliftonville side who finished fifth in Northern Ireland’s top flight last season.

After a goalless first period, Alvechurch broke the deadlock early in the second period when summer signing Okafor found the net.

Cliftonville equalised on 79 minutes as substitute Liam McStravick struck to draw the home side level.

However, Church snatched victory in injury time when Kelly headed in from close range from a corner.

Alvechurch continue their pre-season campaign against Kidderminster Harriers on Tuesday, July 28 with kick-off at 7pm at Aggborough.
