BTCC – Power Maxed Racing make strong start to new season
POWER Maxed Racing made a winning start to the 2026 British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) season at Donington Park.
The Studley-based team won the first race of the new season as Mikey Doble took the race victory.
Doble claimed the race win after defending champion Tom Ingram suffered a post-race disqualification.
Teammate Aiden Moffat finished sixth with Dexter Patterson just behind in seventh place.
Moffat just missed out on a podium finish in race two as he crossed the line in fourth place with Patterson seventh again and Doble down in 14th place.
And Moffat finished fourth again in the final race of the weekend with Patterson sixth and Doble 19th.
The results leave Power Maxed second in the teams standings while Moffat sits third in the drivers’ standings.
Moffat said: “I think it was pretty promising.
“To be this strong from race one is a credit to how hard the team have worked and how well the cars are built.
“It was gutting to miss out on the outright podium, but to walk away with two fourths, a sixth and an independent win, and to leave the weekend third in the championship, that’s one hell of a result – especially for the car’s first outing.”
Doble added: “I think we’ve got to take all the positives we can from it.
“The car’s fast – we won the first race for the car in round one of the season.
“To see all three cars up in the top-10 of the championship is a great achievement as well.
“It just gives me so much excitement for what’s to come.
“I think it’s going to be a really strong year for everyone at the team.”
Patterson said: ” My best ever weekend in Touring Cars. It’s good to have two reference drivers – I’ve got two really strong teammates.
“It’s nice to be able to sit down and look at where I can improve, where I was strong, and where we can move forwards as a team.
“This should really help us heading into Brands Hatch.”
The BTCC season continues at Brands Hatch on the weekend of May 9 and 10.
