BTCC – Power Maxed Racing drivers show consistency at Thruxton
MIKEY Doble achieved three top-10 finishes for Studley-based Power Maxed Racing as the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) returned from a mid-season break at Thruxton.
Doble finished eight in races one and two and 10th in race three while he also secured a victory in the independent class to lead the standings.
The Power Maxed driver sits seventh in the drivers’ standings on 136 points and now leads the independent drivers standings by 23 points.
Doble showed consistency throughout the weekend which began in qualifying where he secured sixth on the grid.
However, teammate Aiden Moffat endured a frustrating weekend as mechanical issues resulted in a loss of power steering which saw him qualify down in 16th.
Doble crossed the line ninth in the qualifying race while Moffat recovered to finish 13th.
And Doble secured another points finish in race one as he took eighth place overall to secure victory in the independent class with teammate Moffat down in 15th.
However, Moffat’s car developed another mechanical issue before the start of race two as his car came to a halt in the pit lane before reaching the circuit.
The Power Maxed crew worked rapidly to restart the car after the green flag lap which allowed Moffat to take his place on the grid for the race.
However, Moffat ran wide during the race which saw him finish 22nd while Doble delivered another composed drive to finish eighth once again.
In race three, Doble started eighth but lost ground to first-lap incidents as he crossed the line in 10th place.
Moffat rose from 22nd to 12th at the end of the first lap and gained two further places before a technical failure on lap 14 brought a cruel end to his race.
Doble and Moffat raced for LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing with the team fourth in the teams standings.
And Dexter Patterson also took to the track at Thruxton racing for Steel Seal with Power Maxed Racing.
Patterson ended the weekend with a ninth-place finish after successive 16th place finishes in races one and two.
And the Power Maxed driver also set the fastest independent lap in the final race of the weekend.
The BTCC season continues at Knockhill in Scotland over the weekend of August 8 and 9.
