BOXING – Wallop Boxing Club to stage summer show at Bromsgrove Rugby Club

WALLOP Boxing Club will host their second show of the year later this summer with an event at Bromsgrove Rugby Club.

Redditch-based Wallop will face a Midlands Select squad in the first half of the show at Finstall Park.

And the second half of the show will pit an Elite Midlands county squad against the UK Armed Forces.

Boxers from the Royal Air Force (RAF), Army, Royal Navy and paratroopers will compete on the card.

The show will take place on Saturday, June 27 with doors to open at midday and boxing to begin at 1pm and finish around 6pm.

Some 20 bouts will take place while a special Army band will welcome the boxers to the ring.

Wallop director and lead coach, Carl Dickens said: “It’s a follow up from what we did at Redditch United last year but this has the potential to be bigger and better.

“It’s a show of two halves with Wallop against a Midlands Select and then the Elite Midlands region versus UK Armed Forces.

“We’ve also got special guests to be confirmed and an auction of boxing memorabilia in-between the two halves of the show.

“It’s on the same day as an England game so will be a long day for some.”

Wallop are also hosting a home show in May at Arrow Vale Sports Centre.

The event takes place on Sunday, May 24 with a number of Wallop fighters to take to the ring.

Dickens added: “This show in May is about giving all the kids at the club an opportunity to box.

“Some of our fighters will be having their first bout and it will give them a taste of what’s to come next season.”

Tickets will be available on the door for the May show or contact the club for more information.
