‘Batchley and Beyond’ – Final chapter of Redditch’s Roger Lippett’s life story
FOR THE past 31 editions of the Standard we have serialised Batchley boy Roger Lippett’s life story, from his time at sea to his teaching career.
To close this chapter, we now hear from Roger one final time.
I AM 87 years old now as I conclude my story but I have many reasons for feeling fortunate to have been born at the time I was.
Looking back it seems I grew up in a better and more innocent age.
Life has changed beyond belief during my lifetime and the digital world we live in now is not a world I easily understand or relate to.
I have had a wonderful childhood and teenage years and an interesting working life, having sailed the oceans of the world, visited many countries and met many interesting people.
I had good caring parents and I have wonderful wife who has always been there for me, and three wonderful children, all who have grown up to be fine citizens.
Who could wish for more?
