216 (Redditch) Squadron Air Training Corps make journey down to Parliament

REDDITCH MP Chris Bloore has welcomed 216 (Redditch) Squadron Air Training Corps to Parliament for a guided tour.

Organised with Civil Instructor Marc Probert of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC), the group was met by Mr Bloore before touring historic Westminster Hall and the Parliamentary Estate.

The MP led the tour and answered questions about his role as an MP, parliamentary debate and how national policy impacts young people across Redditch and the surrounding villages.

The RAF Air Cadets is a national voluntary youth organisation sponsored by the Royal Air Force.

It offers young people aged 12 to 19 opportunities to develop leadership skills, participate in aviation activities and engage in community service.

During the tour, the cadets explored the history of Parliament and learned firsthand how laws are debated and passed in the House of Commons.

Speaking following the visit, Mr Bloore said: “It was a pleasure to welcome the young people and leaders from 216 Redditch Squadron to Parliament.

“Our local air cadets represent the best of Redditch. They show dedication, discipline and commitment to personal development.

“Giving them the opportunity to walk through historic sites like Westminster Hall and to see how Parliament works in practice. This is a good way to inspire the next generation of community leaders.

“I want to thank Marc Probert and all the volunteers who give up their time. They provide valuable opportunities for young people in our constituency.”

The 216 (Redditch) Squadron RAFAC is based in the town and is part of the West Mercia Wing of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, providing local youth with training in aviation, STEM, leadership and adventure activities
