Exhibitions move out of Redditch Local History Museum as search for home continues

THE Redditch Local History Museum has now fully moved out of its premises on Market Place, after being served notice.

Since the landlord asked them to leave they have been on the hunt for a new home, to date they have been unsuccessful, but the search continues.

The Kingfisher Centre have stepped in and are storing the rest of the artefacts, alongside the pop-up shop opposite TG Jones.

Volunteer Dave Handley said: “The fact that we now have somewhere safe, dry and secure to store our artefacts has been great news.

“We have now transferred all of the artefacts from the Market place building into temporary storage .

“The Trustees would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped with the moves and in particular the management of the Kingfisher shopping centre who made this all possible .

“So we enter a new chapter in the history of the museum .

“The future is by no means certain, but at least in the short term the artefacts are all safe and we have a presence, albeit considerably reduced to what we previously had.”
