All the fun of the fair at Headless Cross Orchard for Star Wars Day

CROWDS gathered on Headless Cross Green for the May Fayre on bank holiday Monday, which this year was Star Wars themed, on May the fourth.

There was live music throughout the day, kicking off with Revenge of The Wrinklies and Arrow Valley Brass, accompanied the Headless Cross Brownies, who gave a magnificent demonstration of maypole dancing, with members of the public joining in as an encore.

The band Goblin Noises entertained the crowds with a fantastic acoustic set, followed by singer Aalia, who thrilled the audience with her solo performance. The day was rounded off by pernennial favourite Lampshade – the duo Debbie Joynes and Garth Kirkham.

There was a fantastic family atmosphere and free games, such as ‘splat the rat’ and hoop-la, kept the children amused as families chilled on the Green.

The Human Fruit Machine ran with the Star Wars theme, featuring a wookie and R2-D2, along with Star Wars themed fruit and prizes.

Artist Bethany Pearce demonstrated how she painted designs onto t-shirts using only bleach – an amazing skill.

Refreshments were served up by members of the Redditch Round Table, the Redditch 41 Club and the Headless Cross Community Orchard volunteers.
