Minor Injury Unit and pharmacy times for Bromsgrove and Redditch this May Day bank holiday
PEOPLE are being urged to make sure they get the right treatment over the May Day bank holiday weekend.
The Minor Injury Unit (MIU) at Bromsgrove’s Princess of Wales Community Hospital will be open from 8am to 8pm everyday, including the bank holiday Monday. Extended x-ray services will be available from 9am until 5pm on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, May 2, 3 and 4.
People are urged to go to the MIU for minor injuries, rather than to A&E at Redditch’s Alexandra Hospital or the Worcestershire Royal.
Waiting times are often shorter and patients can be seen a lot quicker.
MIUs are open throughout weekends and bank holidays, treating injuries such as sprains, simple fractures, cuts, burns, minor head injuries and wound infections.
Using the local MIU when appropriate helps reduce waiting times and keeps emergency departments free for more serious cases.
Pharmacies also offer expert confidential advice for minor incidents and illnesses as well as medicines for a range of minor ailments.
On May Day bank holiday Monday, May 4, in Bromsgrove, Knights Pharmacy, Birmingham Road, will be open from 12pm to 3pm.
The pharmacy at Tesco Extra, Coldfield Drive, Redditch, is open from 10am to 4pm and Boots in the Kingffisher Centre will be open between 10.30am and 4.30pm.
People can visit: 111.nhs.uk or call 111 to get advice from trained NHS staff, including signposting to the best service to meet their healthcare needs.
