FOOTBALL – Tim Flowers insists ‘there is more to come’ from Alvechurch after AFC Sudbury win

TIM Flowers believes there is ‘a lot to come’ from his Alvechurch side ahead of a trip to Barwell this weekend.

Church secured their first win of the season with a 2-0 victory against AFC Sudbury at Lye Meadow last time out.

And Flowers only thinks his team will improve once some of his players return from injury.

Flowers said: “It’s a relief, you want to get off and running.

“God only knows [how we didn’t beat Bromsgrove]. That should have been nothing short of a cricket score.

“We started in that vain, we were out of the traps quickly but no one was coming on and putting their foot through the ball and scoring.

“We had a lot of chances in the second half without scoring. The lads thoroughly deserved to get the three points.

“There’s a lot to come from this group, when you consider the injuries we have.

“It’s important we don’t get cut adrift and find ourselves in the nether reaches of the table.

“If we can keep our heads above water that would be great.”

Alvechurch travel to Barwell on Saturday, August 23 with kick-off at 3pm at Kirkby Road.
