The Pond is located at the top of Northleech Close.
It has been here since the land was a deer park and before the housing estates were built, the marlpool was modified to take run-off water from the surrounding land. It has become overgrown and rather untidy. It has also flooded on occasions in heavy rain.
During October and November the Landscape and Drainage teams performed some vegetation clearance around the pond which they’ve nearly completed, then they will consider if any silt needs removing is cost beneficial and will look into see if they can plant some species which could improve the biodiversity, be low maintenance and make the area look nicer. In 2018 some flood alleviation work will be looked to be acted upon if possible, to balance out the pond during heavy rainfall.
Leisure services are planning to put new fencing up around the pond and then and more vegetation could be potentially could’ve cleared more depending on how things go.
Bomford Hill is also to get some flood alleviation to prevent runoff from affecting the roads and paths around it, along with close residential proprieties which are affected. There is a plan in place which we at Church Hill Blog will share with you soon.
